Abstract
The scientific article is dedicated to the scientific and social activities of the “Union of Jurists and Political Scientists” established during the independence of the Republic of Armenia, emphasizing its role and influence in the development of the legal and political thought of the newly independent state. The Union carried out its vigorous activities in the years 1995-1998, publishing many scientific articles, monographs, university textbooks, scientific manuals, which were widely used both in the academic sphere and within the public society.
The Union also published the magazine “Law and Power”, where famous scientists, jurists, political scientists, public and political figures published their scientific results. Furthermore, the Union was able to make already adopted laws public property, ensure their publicity and accessibility.
It must be admitted that the activity and role of the Union in the present times has not been comprehensively studied and deservedly evaluated․ We believe that it will contribute to the coverage of the activities of the Union, the overview of its problems and goals, paying tribute to the scientific and public figures gathered around it, who did a tremendous job, contributing not only to the establishment of national legislation, but also to the development of armenian legal and political thought.
