THE MAIN POTENTIAL OF TOURIST RESOURCES AND INFRASTRUCTURES IN THE CONTEXT OF URBAN TOURISM IN YEREVAN

Abstract

The current article provides a brief overview of the potential development of tourism resources and infrastructure in Yerevan. Since resources and infrastructure are important in the development of urban tourism, which is considered the material basis of sustainable tourism and the economic growth potential of tourism, an attempt has been made to globally represent the classification categories and general perceptions of both resources and infrastructure. The article includes definitions from natural resources to social resources, from infrastructure to transportation, accommodation, security, and environmental sustainability. As is well known, the rational development of the tourism sector is directly related to the tourist potential; however, all the resources and infrastructure that we have tried to present through the simultaneous descriptions of the city of Yerevan can contribute to the construction of a more effective vision of the city, can also satisfy the various needs of a wide flow of tourists, and, if used correctly, can contribute to the development of tourism. This study aims to help create concepts and strategies that, through the necessary investments in the city’s infrastructure, promote a responsible tourism toolkit and take parallel steps to boost local infrastructure development. Naturally, the important role and significance of Yerevan in the tourist market of the Republic of Armenia have also been irreversibly established, as it is the center of the main cultural and tourist infrastructures of the state, the capital of all Armenians, and the main carrier of the country’s human resources.
